Corona Viriduwa: Reviving Viridu for public awareness at the outbreak of new Corona virus

Two YouTubers, Gehan Blok & Dino Corera, who are based in Sri Lanka published a video titled Corona විරිදුව (Viriduwa) on 16^th March 2020 in the crisis of new Corona virus outbreak.

Viridu (විරිදු) is a genre of songs that has been used traditionally in Sri Lanka to make the public aware about various topics relevant to the society. Viridu performer always keeps the instrument called rabana (a drum like a tambourine) to accompany his singing.

Last week number of Corona virus cases raised in Sri Lanka and these two young men created this video. They are using viridu genre very effectively for campaign against new Corona virus. Song is mainly sung in Sinhala language and subtitled into English and Tamil, other languages spoken in the country.
